2022 Fall and Winter Call for Pitches

We have some empty publishing slots between now and the end of the year, and we want to hear from you! If you didn’t know, Ruckus is sustained by a dynamic mix of writers and writing backgrounds. Anyone can submit an article idea regardless of experience or formal art training. We are looking for writers who are interested in an ongoing dialogue in contemporary art and excited about our region’s contribution to the greater conversation. And during 2022, our writers are compensated a flat rate of $250 per article.

Specifically, we are looking for pieces that deal with subjects (art, people, institutions, events, issues, and so on) taking place in, or connected to our coverage region in the Midwest and South. Check out our “About Us” page to read more about how we define our region, but in short, we want to hear about your ideas relating to Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Columbus, St. Louis, Nashville, Asheville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, and everywhere in between.
